Press & freedom of information law

We advise companies, publishers, journalists, NGOs and citizens on all types of requests for information and access to files (Art. 10 ECHR, Press Act, Freedom of Information Act, Federal Labor Act, Freedom of Information Act) and have obtained a number of groundbreaking decisions in this regard before the German and European courts.

In nationally recognized proceedings under the Federal Freedom of Information Act, we represented, among others, for the purpose of inspection

  • the Zeit journalist Staud in the documents of the BStU on western spies
  • the Member of Parliament Hofreiter in the profitability calculations for highways
  • the journalist Saure into the supervisory documents of BaFin on HRE
  • the journalist Harbusch against the Bundestag over Montblanc pens
  • the author Thomas Harding against the public prosecutor's office in Neustadt a.d.W. - 5 K 75/23 - for access to the investigation files on the Einstein murder case

In proceedings - 7 A 15/10 - before the Federal Administrative Court under the Federal Archives Act, the journalist Saure succeeded in proving that the predecessor of the BND knew of Adolf Eichmann's whereabouts as early as 1952.
